Games That Lagged Behind the Times: Wildtangent's Fate and Other Forgotten Gems

Remember the good old days of gaming when we used to get excited about new releases and eagerly awaited their arrival on store shelves? Those were the times when CyberRace was all the rage, and we spent hours racing in voxel-based worlds as humans against other species. But amidst all the hype and excitement, some games unfortunately fell through the cracks, never quite getting the recognition they deserved.

As a fellow gamer, I'm sure you've had your fair share of experiences with games that seemed promising but ultimately failed to live up to expectations. For me, one such game was Megarace, an early CD-ROM title that showcased stunning visuals and addictive gameplay. Unfortunately, it suffered from some serious lag issues due to the limited capabilities of single-speed CD drives at the time.

Fast forward to today, and I'm still on the lookout for those hidden gems that flew under the radar. Games like F-Zero GX may have received widespread acclaim, but what about the ones that didn't quite get the same attention? Take, for instance, Tube Slider, a bizarre game that's hard to describe but somehow manages to work. Or how about Fate, a Diablo-inspired action RPG with a cartoony twist?

Monster Truck Madness 2 is another game that still holds up well today, despite its lack of popularity. Its name says it all – it's an over-the-top racing game where you can smash and crash your way to victory.

Project Snowblind, on the other hand, offered a unique blend of futuristic first-person shooter action with cyber-tech elements. And who could forget Mickey's Speedway USA, a kart racer developed by Rare that's both challenging and addictive?
